1:1 HEALING YOGA

Healing or therapeutic yoga is a relatively new practice that has its roots in ancient yogic wisdom and tradition. The practice can be vast and varied and working with one person's needs in a therapeutic, healing way can offer incredible benefits.

I combine the tools of breath, philosophy, meditation, chanting, movement and asana - yoga postures, to offer healing for the body as well as the mind and the heart. I take the viewpoint that you are already a whole, complete and perfect being.

Therapeutic yoga can offer healing through the lenses of the heart, mind and body.

  • Heart: to be human also means to be divine - whatever that means to you. We can suffer greatly by disconnecting from the essence of who we are at the 'heart' level.

  • Mind: we can be suffering from deep seeded, and possibly outdated beliefs that no longer serve

  • Body: we may appear to have symmetrical bodies, but we usually live life with a dominant side and therefore create compensation patterns that can take the body out of balance and we carry on and suffer needlessly.

Yoga is a state of being as well as a process that is about relationship to self and others and is constantly evolving. 1:1 sessions offer education, opportunity for heightened awareness and  therefore personal empowerment.

Each 75 minute session may include:

  • a conversation about personal goals

  • postural assessment addressing imbalances in your body that might be causing you pain

  • personalized yoga practice to strength, stretch and increase awareness

  • meditation or restorative yoga to support balancing your nervous system

  • breath practices

  • follow up  - homework (either written or verbal)

"Until I met Beth I really didn’t think that Yoga was for me.

Now I wish I had started years ago.

I haven’t been kind to my body so when the aches and pains began, I assumed there wasn’t much I could do except lots of massages. Therapists advised yoga so I took a few classes with

highly qualified and popular instructors. Occasionally I managed a pose and was a bit more limber. But I felt I had survived, not thrived. Now I know why. I needed more than technique. I needed to understand. Beth took me inside my body to learn what muscles were being used and how they connected. I also discovered I had some I didn’t know about.

Whether it’s one on one, or in a class, Beth offers more than the usual corrections. It’s like she can see through you, “don’t forget to….” or “make sure you can feel….”. Sure enough, most of the time I wasn’t. You may not complete the pose but you learn a lot along the way. As she says “Yoga is the journey not the destination.”

But it can also be the solution. For years I had a serious problem with my shoulder and arm. Therapists and acupuncture couldn’t fix it. Beth did.

I’m never going to do headstands, but after a session with Beth I feel loose and alive. In listening to her, I’ve learned to listen to my body."

THAI YOGA MASSAGE

This is definitely a full, heart, mind and body experience that combines Shiatsu techniques with joint movement and helps to open up the body to receive a better flow of energy. A dynamic bodywork therapy based on yoga. In this unique healing system of Thai Yoga Massage, I will guide you through a series of yoga postures while palming and thumbing along the body’s energy lines and pressures points. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically. Thai Yoga Massage is performed on a mat on the floor; both client and practitioner are dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement and flexibility. Every session finishes with a relaxation with Essential oils. It's a little bit of heaven:-)
